COST: This year's entry fees are as follows:
REGISTRATION: Registration opens March 1, 2023 @ 0800 hours through Eventbrite.com. Access to the registration link will be available through this website under the Events menu tab.
ELIGIBILITY: The tournament is open to active or retired law enforcement, fire department and military personnel. A minimum of one person in each boat must be from one of the above professions. This is a fun tournament geared for fishermen who want to have fun and help raise money for charity. In fairness to all participants, full-time guides and full-time professional bass fisherman or ringers are not allowed in the tournament. Contact the tournament coordinator prior to registering if you have any questions about eligibility.
LIVE WELL CHECKS: All live wells must be checked by a tourney referee prior to blast off.
START TIME: The launch or “Blast Off” time for the first boat will proceed at approximately 0530 hours each day. All boats must be inside the Konocti Vista Marina prior to the blast off. The BLAST OFF ORDER WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE DATE /TIME YOU REGISTER AND PAY YOUR ENTRY FEE . The sooner you register, the earlier your blast-off time will be.
END TIME: The approximate weigh-in time will be 1500 hours each day. There will be different weigh-in times based on the number of boats in the tournament. All boats must be inside the Konocti Vista Marina prior to their weigh-in times. If a boat is not inside the Marina at their designated time, that boat will be disqualified.
BAITS: No live bait is allowed during the tournament, only artificial lures.
SAFETY: All participants must have state-approved life vests & state mandated safety gear aboard their vessel.
FISHING LICENSES: A valid California fishing license is required for each team member.
SCORING: The total weight of each team will determine tournament standings and placement. Only large-mouth or small-mouth bass will be weighed. The creel limit shall be five (5). At no time shall a competitor have in his/her possession more than the tournament limit. Culling must be done immediately upon catching a sixth fish. Minimum length will be 13 inches (measured on a flat board). A penalty of 1 pound will be deducted from the total weight for each short fish and a penalty of 4 ounces (.25 pounds) will be deducted from the total weight for each dead fish. In the event the angler's big fish is dead, a penalty of 4 ounces (.25 pounds) will be deducted from the big fish total weight. A participant that presents more fish than the tournament limit will be disqualified immediately. Mangled, mashed, mauled or otherwise altered fish will be grounds for immediate disqualification. No regurgitated bait fish will be weighed. Fish shall not be put on a stringer at any time. All live fish will be returned to the lake.
WEIGH-IN: Based on the number of boats, there may be different weigh-in times. Each boat may be given a specific time to weigh-in at. Fish must be brought to the Konocti Vista Marina docks in some type of fish bag containing water and the fish. After the fish are weighed, they must go back into a bag with water to be taken back to the boat and then released offshore by the boater.
FISH PRESERVATION: Each boat must have a working fish live well to keep the fish alive during the duration of the tournament. It is recommended that each boat add some type of fish preservative or additive (found in tackle stores) to help keep the fish alive while inside the live wells. Per Ca. Department of Fish and Game rules that apply to Clear Lake, fish must be released 2 miles away from the weigh-in site. This responsibility will rest with each individual team and not the tournament director. Make sure you don't release the fish at the docks!
BBQ DINNER (Day-1 Only): As in previous years, we are holding a BBQ this year after the event comes to a close on Day 1.
RAFFLE: Unfortunately, there will be no raffle again this year. As you have probably noticed, The entry fee was raised by $25 dollars per boat this year. The extra money from this increased fee will be given directly to our designated non-profit beneficiary "Casting for Recovery" because we are not going to have a raffle.
SPORTSMANSHIP: Competitors in this tournament are expected to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation. This has never been a problem and we don't expect it ever will be.
PHOTOGRAPHY WAIVER: Photographs and / or videos may be taken at very points during the event. Some of these images may be posted on our public website or to our Facebook for the public to see. We do this as a service for the people who attend the event and to share this important event with the public.
